Bywaters’ state-of-the-art facility is specially designed to separate your dry mixed recycling into individual recyclable streams. Contact us today for recycling solutions by waste management experts.
Our Dry Mixed Recycling Services
Dry mixed recycling (DMR for short) is one of our most popular recycling services, disposing of items that would normally go into your recycling bin, like cardboard, glass and plastic. We provide you with secure containers to help you manage any large volumes of DMR and then organise a convenient collection schedule to ensure a seamless service.
Our East London materials recovery facility (MRF) is powered by 4,000 solar panels and uses state-of-the-art equipment to separate waste into individual streams. This enables us to sort your dry mixed recycling through a twelve-step segregation process in order to recycle as many materials as possible.
Materials are then baled ready to be recycled into new products like glass bottles, plastic toys, and paper. Our commitment to sustainability means none of your dry mixed recycling will go directly to landfill.

DMR FAQ
Does it matter if WEEE waste contains broken appliances?
As electronic appliances and equipment are separated into their component parts to be reused, it won’t be a problem if your WEEE waste is broken. For example, screen glass for computer monitors or smartphones will not need to be intact, as it will be crushed when it enters the glass waste stream anyway.
What is classed as 'white goods'?
White goods refer to large electrical appliances typically found in the kitchen, such as refrigerators, washing machines and freezers, as well as ovens, dishwashers and water heaters.
Is there a size limit for WEEE waste?
The largest items we typically collect are fridges and washing machines. However, we aim to find WEEE waste solutions for every client, no matter the size of the item. If you need to dispose of a larger appliance, get in touch with us and we will organise a suitable WEEE service.
Are cables classed as WEEE?
WEEE regulations only apply to finished products, so components, sub-assemblies and spares are exempt from WEEE waste streams. However, if an item can’t function by itself, such as a cable, it is classed as WEEE and can be recycled as such.
Is WEEE waste hazardous?
WEEE waste contains components or substances which can pose a serious threat to the environment, including ozone-depleting substances, asbestos, fluorescent tubes and nickel cadmium batteries. For instance, heavy metals can leak and contaminate soil or water supplies. This is why it’s crucial to find methods of WEEE recycling which eradicate the chances of these issues harming wildlife or people, and why our services can help get rid of WEEE safely.
